Hi all,

I've never overlcocked, and have a basic 2.4ghz P4 and 6800NU with a Gig of RAM (can't even remember which type).

Anyway, I want to upgrade to a Conroe E6300 that I will overclock, but all this I see about FSB's, 5300 , 6400 Ram etc etc is confusing me.

For my system I was looking at either the

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2
or
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel

as I'm trying to be a little price conscious, and it looks like the Ram is going to be the most expensive item.

Can anyone explain the pro's and con's as the sticky's are a little out of date.

Thanks.

Suppose it begs the question, would you get the Geil 6400 for £20 more than the 5300 value if you were going to overclock an E6300.

I don't know which mobo, I was looking at the ASRock xfire one cos it is very reasonabl priced, I can't justify spending £120 plus on a mobo, when I don't know what half the technical stuff is for. Just want a PC that will convert VHS to digital, browse, store photo's and play games.
