I followed the dq6 guide http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17636047 but i just cant get this oc thing to work.

I have
e6750
p35-dq6
2gb g.skill ddr2-800 F2-6400CL4S (on the package it says 4-4-3-5 and 2.0~2.1v)

I've got the latest bios, which was labelled something like F5L. I can see the voltage and memory changes in CPU-Z, but I cant raise the FSB. It's still at 333 eventhough I changed it in bios.

I'm not sure if this is relevant but anyhooo. After changing the things in bios, I save and the pc restarts. I get to the gigabyte screen where i can get to bios etc and then it restarts again. Is that normal? After that it boots into windows. Then I check the cpu-z and the fsb hasnt changed at all....

what am i doing wrong here? I'm only looking for 3.0ghz. nothing drastic.

I'm not a gigabyte user, but isn't there an overclocking mode on these boards to allow you to change the FSB value in the BIOS?

What happens if you try to change the FSB?

If your FSB is at 333mhz then your processor should be running at 3330mhz, try running some stress test programmes, as you may have speed step enabled which lowers your multiplier, default for yours I think is 10.

naah the multiplier is 8.

Sorry, should have re-read the original post better, thought you had the 6700 which is 266. DOH

I tried the Easytune5 software that came with the mobo. To me it seems unreliable, I have to load the 3ghz oc every time after restarting. Does anyone even use et5 to overclock?

Nah do it all in the BIOS.

Have you lowered your memory multiplier to take it out of the equation?
