Someone plz explain CPU temps to me...

OK i have a Qx6700 under a zalman 9700 and (windows vista x64) according to everest, my cpu temps are between 20c and 30c (depending on load and time on etc) the core temps range from 40c - 50c.

idle cpu fan is about 1600rpm and load is 2800rpm

what i cant understand is u is the "cpu" temp so different from the core temp?

its only a small thing so how can it be so geographically different in temperature?!

surely the temps would average out pretty quick!!!

what do ya all think?

With my DFI NF4 Ultra-D the motherboard reported CPU temp is usually around 40c although occasionally it does increase a little like up to around 45c. The core temps however idle around 30c and go up to 60c when using 1.45v. The motherboard temp is absolutely useless and it makes me wonder just how DFI could allow such an issue to exist.

It's shocking but I guess it's not that important a feature to motherboard manufacturers!

as above core temp is only accurate temp motherboard sensors are usually way off as they are getting the temps from the socket
