Guys,

Made a new network plan, all cableing will be in the cavity of the walls using CAT6 and wall ports.

What i need to know is;

*Will all connected have connectivity?
*Will all connected have internet connectivity?
*Can you improve it any?

How are these devices addressed?
Router 192.168.2.1
Switch (no idea)
Access Point (no idea)

Cheers

Looks pretty standard. Does the router support DHCP as this will then address each device, if not the fileserver/NAS device could possibly configured to do so, depending on the hardware used etc

I'd be inclined to pull at least 2 cables to each room while you're doing it. It would be no more effort than one, and you don't even have to terminate it if you don't want to. Gives you the option of adding devices later or a backup in case of a damaged cable.

a great idea, and i have ordered a spool of 300m cat6 so will have plenty

A Great idea? no just common sence really

Yeh, it's a basic network similar to mine to be fair.

Everything will have connectivity, They all will have Internet connectivity aslong as everything is configured correctly via DHCP (Router).

The router is a static address and the switch don't need an addressas it's an unmanged device. However the AP would eitha be static or dynamic from the router DHCP pool or it might not need one depends which model you have.

yeah basic network. i'd defo run some spare cable around. as said above the switch needs no ip (its like traffic lights, they dont need a street name but the streets do)

With regards to addressing, I tend to set the DHCP pool to start at 192.168.0.20, and then set static IPs below that on things like access points / printers / NAS boxes etc.

Keep a note of the IP, current firmware version, model number, user/pass in an Excel file and you're laughing. Makes it a lot easier to keep things ticking over.
