Any defamation lawyers in the house?

If someone were to setup up multiple google accounts under false names to leave negative feedback for a business, does the business have any recourse to recover losses from this person - do they have any right to defamation damages etc?

Also, is it a criminal offence for a person to fake these reviews?

You can only sue for defamation if you can prove that the false review has caused a loss.

And the review has to actually be false, of course.

There are farms in China where they write Amazon reviews. When I say farm, a room with hundreds of phones, and one person just spends the day leaving reviews on products they want to boost. Hard to stop this behaviour.
