OK so some numpty keeps on entering my e-mail address instead of their own on various online forms... I've had silly e-mails from groups they're a part of (where I've had to reply several times telling them to both take me off the list and mention that using BCC might be better in future for mass mailings), I've had homebuyer reports sent to me, occasional signups for all sorts of stuff, dating sites etc..

(well I've had these issue with a few people but in this particular case it is a serial offender)

basically I've had a mail saying a delivery is arriving from DPD, the location checks out and is the same location as the guy's homebuyer repot, local group and a load of other stuff he's used my e-mail for

Now DPD provides some options to mess with this guy's delivery - delivery to a neighbour and leave in a safe place are out... but I can perhaps delay his delivery or maybe deliver to a pick up shop

there are a whole range of pickup shops and I'm inclined to go with this option.. the question is, given the time this guy has caused me to waste over the years how far do I make him drive to collect his package?

The nearest option is 3 miles away, next is 7 miles... but there are options extending 10, 20, 30 miles away

what do you think GD?

the problem is they are likely using there own email address as gmail doesn't recognise [dot] before the @

no, you've confused yourself a bit there... the fact that gmail doesn't recognise the dot helps stop this from happening more often - they're not using their own e-mail address, that should be obvious by the fact the e-mail is in my inbox - any combinations of dots (or no dots) belong to my address

Surely the obviously answer is to not be a knob. Then use the details you have to send him a quick letter.

he already knows he's got the address wrong several times in the past

If I was in your position, I'd just mess with him as much and as inconveniently as possible. If he can't get his head around a simple email address, he deserves everything he gets. It's not like you haven't gone out of your way to try and educate him.

This happens to me a lot because I have a double letter in my name that the email doppelganger obviously doesn't. Like me, he probably got a Gmail address back when they were invite only so there's no numbers involved, just [email protected]

It's clearly just a typo when he's signing up for stuff, so what's the inconvenience to you other than he made you spend a couple of seconds of your life reading something you didn't have to. Well guess what, I just made you read this... :p

Messing with his parcels would say far more about the type of person you are than it would about the type of person he is.

An older person, perhaps?

I did wonder about that and if this was some retired chap it would be overly harsh, but it isn't an old guy, this person has young children

I am however leaning towards just delaying the delivery by a couple of days... he gets the message but doesn't put him out massively

In my case, it's a fella in Australia and he misspells it once or twice a year... so "a lot" is perhaps an embellishment on my behalf.

I've got one of those too - I got monthly notifications that his bank statement was due from ANZ... they also tell you that you can't unsubscribe because of some Australian law re: them having to send these notifications or something... I took me a couple of attempts to speak to one of their online chat people and get them to raise a ticket to remove my e-mails address, the first guy insisted that it wasn't possible

I also had complete access to another guy's virgin media account and could have changed his subscription package etc..etc.. that also took some faffing about to get resolved, I called their customer service team twice, I tried social media via Facebook, apparently the people running that can't do DMs... eventually I had to go via two online chat people

Had a woman use one of mine several times, once for her new vodafone contract with loads of personal info. Tried to contact Vodafone through online chat but they weren't interested, just gets sent straight to spam now.
