On a somewhat different scale this is the very large 3d print just installed at work. Good girl for scale

Yes indeed, this is a fully demountable structure made of 5 parts with concrete joints based upon woodworking dovetails on one axis and more standard bolted joints up the spine. The drain and services are integrated into the part also

I was on a project looking at doing exactly that but in terms of viability and carbon footprint they are nothing like being ready yet in my option.

Panels of which there are 4 take an hour to print an 2.5 hours to mill. Column takes 38 mins to print and 2 hours to mill

The machine is repeatable but not accurate, you are dealing with a machine which has a +\- 9mm tolerance with a tcp ( tool centre point) calibration sphere of 1.4mm if you combine this with a material which although it should be is not homogeneous ( all the same) and also is thixotropic (changes state as energy is put into it, I.e become more fluid) the control challenges stack up slightly

This was a large scale technology demonstration done to prove the technology can work. It was done in conjunction with some prestigious architects for the design work and structural engineers for the calls and sign off. Although produced tested, installed and prototyped at the uni. Hopefully this type of work will now take its place in some modern structures and buildings.
