SOMETHING BLEW UP IN PC,...... BUT PC WORKING

Hi mate,

Both incidents appear to be unrelated. I would suggest the followng:-

1) Disconnect original drive and put your Windows disk(installation disk) into DVD drive, the FORMAT NEW drive. Reasons being that Windows will see the new drive because I assume it is unformatted.

2) Reconnect original drive and boot up Windows as normal, you should then see new drive.

In regards to the other issue, I think it might be down to dust shorting either the PSU or motherboard, give the PSU a close sniff and examine the board closely. If any signs of damage to either, replace asap.

Basically the two events are unrelated and merely a coincidence.

Regards

It's not a good idea to clean your PC with a hoover btw.

Use a small paint brush and compressed air to clean it in future. It's a whole lot safer this way also.

Stuff can blow a piece and still work, not all damage = inoperable. Keep an eye on it though, it can certainly be a foreshadowing of things to come, and you don't want to lose everything else along with it when it does come.

Shouldn't be too much problems if the fan still runs, can't see a picture. But it might be the wire that reports the fan speed.

little update here: Installed 10.5 driver, seems to work fine everything, set fan to 100% works fine too, just don't get why one wire burned.
