No thoughts anyone?
Preferably constructive:p

Not particularly spectacular I know but just trying out lighting and static shots.
A big ":D" for anyone who guesses what the background on some of them is!

These are a couple more I did using my lighting tent and flash:

Honestly? The first few shots are of an out of focus background which has been photobombed by a watch.

With 5, 6, 10 & 11 there is a clear focus; 3 too if it wasn't predecessed by the shots before it. The HDR appearance of 8 & 9 really stand out as way over processed to the extend that the shot itself is completely lost... in 12 I wouldn't be convinced at what I was looking at is what I think they are if it weren't for the caption.

Watches are never a good foreground subject unless they're the only subject. 10 and 11 are fine in that respect, though really one of the hands should be in focus in 12.

Thanks.
Comments appreciated.
As i say this isn't my usual fair so helpful to know what does and doesn't work. The first two were done from ideas off a watch forum in all honesty. The background is actually a wallpaper on my computer, as is No 3.

I don't follow your numbering though for some comments. Are you referring to these posted here on the whole set on Flickr?

8 and 9 are extreme as i was fiddling on my iPad :) thought I would include them for some laughs more than anything.

Just the order they were posted here. I probably should have referred to them by the name though. :)

Edit: I was probably overly harsh last night, so I'll restructure my thoughts.

In the first two (IMG_8684 and IMG_8681), there's too much going on and not enough focus on the watch. It might work for some as a mood piece, but for me there's too much happening in the background. They might work if cropped heavily though, or reframed. Oh, and use the ruler tool to correct the angle.

Taken as an in individual shot, I really like 3 (IMG_8670). The colourful background perhaps grabs too much attention, but I really like it.

The next four are OK given the aged look you created I suppose, but as shots, they don't interest me (watches don't though). Questionable exposure here and there, but that's subjective in shots like these. The first of that bunch (Timing is Instrumental) could certainly have used more light on the watch.

The less said about the HDR ones the better in my opinion.

I find the the final two (Seiko 5) are good. It almost looks like you've used a lightbox, there's no overly harsh light, they're clean. As said above, the second of those could have used with having one of the hands in focus though.

Thanks. That was one of the ones I was more confident about :)

No problem. I understood what you mean!
Yes, the last two are taken in a lightbox - one of the fabric pop up ones you can get quite cheap. Felt they were a bit clinical though due to the lack of shadows.

I can push the exposure on some of the others so might have a play, just to see what they do.
