Well, with the impending British GP this weekend, thought I’d get a few of you in the mood and post up a 1/20 model I constructed this year. It’s a Fujimi 1/20 base kit, amalgamated with Model Factory Hiro San Marino transkit to make a fairly nice rendition of the 1982 San Marino GP raced by no 28 D Pironi.

I know a few of you are scale model builders, and I’ve seen a few post their works before, so here you go… Enjoy.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks everyone, comments well appreciated…… Model took me about two months of on off building during the evenings and weekends, when I had some spare time.

My creative side, yeah amaze myself at times… :-) And if you look, in one of the pictures you’ll see the bum of my dog, so this’ll hopefully prove it’s a scale model and not a real F1 car… lol

www.hiroboy.com is a good place to get scale model cars and paint etc….. www.modelsforsale.com is a good place for just about any scale model you can buy, and if you don’t mind importing, as it’s cheaper prices, then www.hlj.com is a good place to buy as well.

An airbrush kit starts on ebay for £20 upwards. You need a source of compressed air, either compressor, aircan or a spare tyre with an adaptor. I recommend getting a cheap plastic kit, cheap brush, can of air, and try it out. If you like it, upgrade later on….

As for batteries, a very long time, in fact it doesn’t need them, as it’s a static model…. Lol

I have many more models on my photo website –

As for number of parts… Ooh I dunno, 300 + and plenty of 2 part epoxy glue..!!

You can see some construction pics here –

Thanks again all for the comments. Much appreciated..

Great work there, iv-tecman :) Did you use any ink-wash or drybrushing painting techniques?

Yes, it helps to give depth and realism to the mechanics of the whole model, such as the engine and brakes etc.... thanks for the comments..

can I just ask on the airbrush thing I had a Iwata eclipse cs which I sold now looking into getting replacment any opinions on Aztec ? I know bret green does a good job with them but wasnt sure on the nozzle thing.

thanks and amazing work ;)

Your airbrush can be at times be as good as the artist.... I used a badger 200 Single action on this model, I airbrushed just about the whole thing, yet its a cheap o brush that most would think wouldn't be up to the task of making a model like this...

Aztec can be a bit cheap, parts might break, but the job will be as good as you make it, internal mix BTW is ALWAYS better though, those brushes that blow air onto paint that is blown out a bottle externally are a waste of time...
