Hi guys,

In my haste to upgrade the kids PC (from a AMD s939 3800+, 2gb ram, win xp and take advantage of the cheap win 8 upgrade), and before the wife found out ;), I screwed up slightly.

Basically the cooler doesn't clear the RAM and atm the ram is leaning slightly about 3 to 5mm. So something has to change and it's going to be whatever is cheapest, whether it's memory, cooler or motherboard.

The memory is this stuff Here which works perfectly I might add. The rest is this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD A8-5600K Black Edition 3.60GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor (AD560KWOHJBOX) £79.99
1 x ASRock FM2A55M-DGS AMD A55 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £44.99
1 x Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £16.94
Total : £153.32 (includes shipping : £9.50).

So, any recommendations? The ram is 50mm tall and the gap to the bottom of the cooler is about 33mm. Would like to keep the ram @ 2133 if possible and 8gb. Using the stock cooler is not an option !!

Thanks

What ram is it? Can you take the heat spreader off one or two of the modules? Thats what i had to do with my corsair to fit under. Normally you can heat them up with a hair dryer and prize them off carefully ( i used a plastic spork). Its normally just clipped at the corners and glued on the chips comes of ok.
