I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

I used Media Player Classic with ffdshow and haali mkv splitter to watch a film and the memory usage just shoots up until it fills up on task manager and everything becomes extremely slow. svchost would be at the top of the memory list and the MPC.exe will be second. But even after i quit the Media Player Classic, the memory usage wont go down.

I've been playing a lot of games and doing heavy photoshop work a lot and there is not problem there.

I am updating Windows and see if it fixes anything.

Any help would be great!

Had the same problem a few times, I think you'll find it's one of the mkv files that is causing it due to the encoding profile used. Only way to stop it was to delete the offending file via dos window as attempting to delete it through normal explorer window caused memory to fill almost instantly & windows to take forever to get the job done!
