Something is seriously wrong with my 4870..

You forgot to say that something is wrong with your memory as well because it's probably running at 400mhz where it should run at 800mhz :O.

Well you can cool it down to about 55 degrees, just slowely push forward on the throttle to increase the thrust to about 35%, any more and you're PC case will take off from your desk but worst case scenario you'll blow your house away

I used the xml profile hack and put the fan speed at 32%, so my 4870 idles now at about 58C and goes into the 80s on load. But even 80 for these cards isn't a big issue.

Well thanks for the replys I was worried about the temperature I thought it might catch fire or something at that temperature.. Guess I was wrong at least I can put my mind at rest now :)

Im jsut so used to my card idling at about 40-50 degrees and underload at about 60 degrees heh never seen 80 degrees on any of my cards yet till now

40%? :p I find 30% audible above my case fans (sharkoons are great). Set mine to 25% dead silent and keeps idle temps at 60. Very stable at 790/1100 too at 25%. Gamed on aoc for 3 hours and hit 82 at load.
