Hi

In soon I'd like to buy a new monitor for around £200. A few days ago I just ordered a BenQ BL2400PT but I found a few negative information (e.g. poor quality) and I decided to withdraw order. I"ve tried to buy a monitor on IPS panel (or something like that) and 23-24 size . I thought about Dell U2311H but I heard that it had a problem with uneven illumination and proportions 16:9 / 23" seems to be inconvenient. A lot of people say that the Dell 2209WA and LG W2220p is a very good choise but 22" is to small for me. I don't know what should I do.

Summarizing I want a IPS panel or similar, 23-24 size (more 24), for around £200.

I forgot - does anyone know something about premiere new monitors in soon months (IPS 24" etc)? Maybe i should wait ? (I've waited for two years but I'am determined too much :p)

"Premiere new monitors", "IPS 24" and "£200" don't belong in the same sentence. You shouldn't have cancelled your order of the BL2400PT. The issues you are reading affect some individual units and not others. You've seen the same thing on the U2311H and you're being put off. You should be brave - distance selling regulations exist for a reason. Use them! You should give this a little read - http://www.pcmonitors.org/reviews/benq-ew2420-an-example-of-inter-unit-variability. It's about the EW2420 and variation between different units. It uses the same panel as the BL2400PT.

And you're going to have to get used to 16:9 and 23" given your budget, especially if you're looking for an IPS monitor. Or is your budget £20000 as you've written? ;)

Edit:

I see you are Polish. So that's a £200 budget. The BL2400PT is your best bet if you want a 24 incher.

i wish my budget were 20 000! ;P what could one get for that pcm?

p.s. every time i come on here, i see new threads popping up and you endorsing different 24" models! still can't make up my mind -_-

Thanks for answer (mistake edited :P).

Maybe you're right. My budget is not impressive (Poland rules :P) and probably I expect too much. If you say that BL2400PT is good choice, maybe I'll give it chance.

I'll be wait for other suggestion :P

There's also the Viewsonic VP2365wb (23" 16:9) which uses the same e-IPS panel as the U2311H, but it's not quite as good although is a lot cheaper. However, that may suffer the same backlight uniformity problems which a lot of the U2311H do.

Just a note, I own two U2311H, both show a slight cool blue tint on the left and a warm yellow on the right which I believe is down to the backlight uniformity, but it's pretty hard to spot unless you're deliberately looking for it and it's a white screen or light coloured background. In fact I'm sure if I wasn't aware there was a backlight uniformity problem, I probably wouldn't have noticed it at all. I actually asked a few people who bought the U2311H at the same time I did whether or not they had the same uniformity problem and they initially said they didn't until I told them specifically what to look for.

I have a one simple question. I found a note concern input lag (BL2400PT). Apparently it's a big problem in FPS and quickly games but what in other ? Will I feel a disgust ? I'm not too demanding but maybe it's a very irritation ?

According to this review of the VW2420H, the input lag is on average about 20ms. On this review, they say "Input lag hit peaks of 40ms, with lows of 10ms, and we noted an average of 22ms". I've read user reports saying they've measured the input lag to be 25ms, so you can say on average you're likely to get 20-25ms of input lag.

This isn't great for fast online FPS games (particularly if you play competitively), but should be OK for other games. There are a few owners of the BL2400PT (as well as the EW2420) on these forums, I don't think anyone has complained about input lag. The main thing people have noticed is the ghosting/trailing, which has mixed reactions - some say it's not really a problem, others hate it so much they've returned the monitor. It depends on how sensitive you are to it.

fair enough mate. i only say this because at least from what i've learnt recently, at a budget of £200, the premium you are paying for a low-end ips panel would be matched in quality by a mid-high end tn, but for very difficult to appreciate differences. and if very low-input lag for the best possible gaming experiences is a concern, and viewing angles aren't a worry, then perhaps ruling out tn outright in your situation might be a mistake?

now as i said i am only learning myself so to the more knowledgeable here please correct me if i'm wrong; my intention certainly isn't to mislead.
