Something special to do around Vancouver

My parents are going on holiday to Vancouver in September this year. My brothers and I would like to buy something for them to do on the trip. Our budget is £1500.

They're not 'flashy' people, so fancy restaurants and high end hotels are definitely not their bag. An experience/adventure is much more their thing, although they're not youngsters so things like kayaking, or having to hike 20 miles to the nearest fresh water are also a no go! Seeing nature and wildlife would be preferable over city based activities.

They're staying in Vancouver, but it's not limited to that area so could potentially bus/fly somewhere (as long as it within budget).

Possible ideas:
- Sea plane trips from Vancouver which go over the alpine lakes/glaciers, or one that connects with a whale watching ferry
- Rocky mountaineer train journey
- A remote lodge focused on grizzly bear spotting - this would be perfect, but are insanely expensive
- A log cabin in a remote and scenic location, possibly up in the mountains near Whistler
- A short cruise up towards Alaska to see Glaciers/Fjords - again, a bit overbudget

Any suggestions?
