Something stealing focus/tabbing out of full screen games

I am not sure what is causing it, but many times now while playing rocket league (in full screen mode) something has minimised the game and brought me back to the desktop. I can go straight back into the game but often the same problem will happen again within a minute or two.

Both Malwarebytes and Avast have found nothing nasty on the computer and I haven't updated anything since the problem started occurring. I am using Nvidia drivers 350.12 and am hesitant to update due to many people having problems with the newer drivers, and because there hasn't been a problem with these drivers before. Initially I thought it was geforce experience complaining that it wanted to update, but that has been completely uninstalled to no avail.

The problem hasn't happened with any other game yet, but most of my gaming time has been spent playing rocket league so its very possible that the problem will occur in other games but just hasn't yet.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to find out what is stealing focus of the game and/or how to stop it from doing so?
 
You might have some background program that may be causing it.

A friend had a similar problem with TP-Link's wireless adapter software, it was minimizing every fullscreen software he had. If you have software that's tied in with your hardware like motherboard extras might be a nice idea to close them and see if that helps.

Considering the only meaningful upgrades to the computer in the past five years have been a new GPU and new hard drive its unlikely to help because whatever is running has been in the background for years, but I'll try shutting down whatever I can anyway to at least eliminate some programs
 
Nope, still getting the same problem and all that was running in the background was steam and my AV. Is there any way to log which provess is taking focus at all so I can find out what the problem is?
 
Do you have anything like Desktop Fusion?

I found Software like that and Actual Multiple Monitors tabbed out of everything and drove me up the wall until I knew what it was.
 
I get this occasionally running Fallout New Vegas. I don't use Bit Defender, Avast or any of the other programmes mentioned above. It doesn't really do it often enough to annoy me though....

Oooh this is what could be causing it for me. Most games were launching in Window mode even though I'd set them to Fullscreen. Also Rage kept switching to desktop for no reason.

I've gone back to Win 7 from Win 10 now so I'll see if it does the same.
