Something strange is going on!

Hi all. I am getting very strange results in 3D mark 06 after overclocking my 8800gts 512mb. I am using expertool as ntune seemed to be causing random CTD. I don't really like rivatuner. Anyway I have the asus stock GTS and using expertool raised the core to 750mhz, memory to 2000mhz and the shader to 1800mhz. I checked in gpuz if the clocks had been set and they had. I ran 3d mark 06 and got 400 points less than when at stock! I disabled most startup programs and ran the test again and still the same. Has anyone got any ideas? I'm thinking it could be a problem with expertool but wanted your opinions. By the way my drivers are 169.09, the ones on the cd as 169.21 were problematic. The only recent programs I have installed in PKR poker and expertool if that makes any difference as I had noticed my 3d mark points were about 300 down from usual. Any ideas gratefully received.

Have you tried overclocking in steps, rather than jumping straight in with a higher clock? That way you'll probably find the optimum overclock for your particular card. You've probably pushed it a bit too far.

I thought if I had pushed it too far the system would just hang? The temps were all fine. I haven't used nvidia cards for quite a long time but have always seen a good increase in 3D mark with my Ati cards.

Just try bringing them down a little and see what happens. You'll prob get a better score.
