hi guy's n girl's,

Last night i put my i5 760 back down to stock speed 2.8Ghz. Since day i built my rig i overclocked it to 4ghz.
The reason i did this is i wanted to see how much of boost i was getting, I am schocked to tell you i was not
getting any boost at all from gaming at 4ghz.I play black ops and crysis a lot at max setting @ 1920x1080 res,
in black ops i get an avg fps of 100 and crysis 40fps but now i have put my cpu down to stock my avg fps in
black ops is 130fps and crysis 55, strange, why is this when i thought it would be the other way around.
can some answer this for me plz.

Thanks
sgt.

Possibly Turbo is working better on fewer cores at stock than the overclock.

Possibly overheating somewhere was ramping the CPU down.

I do know what you mean. I was messing around with my phenom 965be today, and for some reason I was getting faster pi calculations at 3.8 ghz compared to 4.0 ghz.

Also, bumping my memory bandwidth up from 1333mhz to 1600 mhz feels like its made my pc dead slow!
