Moving into my own house within the next week or so and want a new system

Not sure on a budget, got a few guys in the MM with a couple of systems for about £250 which are capable of running the likes of HL2 etc

Not built anything for about 2 years  so really havent kept up to date with all the new GFX and CPU etc so am a bit in the dark lol

Anyone care to spec me soemthing that would allow the likes of HL2 / FEAR / STALKER etc to run smoothly?

Inclusive of a monitor, keyboard, speakers, DVDRW

So something cheap but something im not going to have to upgrade again withing possibly the next 6 months to a year? :)

Thanks :)

like i said im not overly sure, the guys in MM had 2 systems for £250 so possibly no more than 400 to include dleivery and everything, not necceserily with monitor though

That bit makes it impossible. Without them its just possible, should run on mid/highish gfx.

Half Life 2 scales well (I've played it on an Athlon 1.2ghz, 512mb Ram and a Geforce 2 GTS which you could pick up now for around £50) but I don't think that F.E.A.R. or Stalker scale anywhere near as well and buying new parts just doesn't give you the chance to build something that decent. I'd suggest going secondhand where someone else has already taken the hit of depreciation, perhaps look at dual core socket 939 systems with PCI-E capability, they shouldn't be terribly expensive now and are decent enough albeit without much of an expansion path. :)

well thanks for the input guys

like ive said there are a couple of guys selling on the MM which i might go ahead and buy then, was just seing wether getting it new was possible :)
