Something up with this 172!?

it's acceleration

as for 172s being lumpy, they shouldn't really - i'd get a proper garage to double check the timing, you can't simply use tippex to mark pulley locations when changing it - it requires the cams locking, pulleys locking and the crank locking as all the pulleys are on a friction fitting

if the timing is out it will affect the power

If it is hitting 60 in 7.1 seconds, then surely the timing is ok?

The F4R-730/732/736/738 used in the iterations of the Mk2 RS clio will idle rough simply due to the harsh(ish)ness of the cams used, the normal 136bhp version and the turbo'd version in my megane idle smooth due to softer cams. The VVT will not be activated and the engine will be limited to a 6500rpm limiter until the coolant temp hits 85c then you get the full 7250rpm limiter and the inlet cam is advanced 16degress between 1500-6800rpm. There isn't much point revving it over 6800rpm~ as the power/torque drops off like a stone as the inlet cam is retarded.

And they're flat as below 5k tbh, they need to be worked hard to get the performance out of them but thats in keeping with the cars character. Although I now much prefer having twice the torque.

Remap F.T.W

If your talking megane wise oooooh yes! Clio wise they do help but don't expect wonders, does smooth out the whole experience as the standard map has some shocking holes/roughness in it.

But in all fairness, the 172 isn't all about straight line performance.

Its in the twisties where it will come alive, and leave a Buggati Veyron in dust. Fact. ;)
