Something wrong with FSX

For some reason on all planes with jet engines i hear no sound inside the cockpit of the engine when on the gorund. It's only when taking off that the engine sounds come back, and they sound like they're powering up. It's the same when landing, engines power down and go silent yet when i switch to an outside view the sound is there.

Anybody know what's up?

Do you have a creative sound card and is it on game mode?
I used to have this problem when it was in entertainment mode.
