Hi. I've been using Vista business for a few montsh now but i've noticed something odd. I've lost all shortcuts in the start menu that were there from the first install, like windows media player, messenger, etc.

also the reliability monitor stoppped recording things about three weeks ago.

any idea how to fix these?

Have you restarted since you noticed the shortcuts had gone missing? Happened twice to me since I got Vista, always returned after a restart though.

Can't help you with the reliability monitor sorry.

yep, restarted loads of times and no shortcuts.

The more annoying thing is that even in the start menu's search, if i search for those programs it still doesn't find them. So the only way to get tot them is program files> wmp etc.

I've managed to reset the reliability monitor by deleting the programdata>RAC folder contents. then running RACAgent at command prompt.

This has reset it thougha dn there is no data so i have to wait 24 hours before i see any reliability figures. Maybe it will be 10 for a few hours!

Try This

1) Launch services.msc from a run command
2) Find the SLUNotify service & stop it
3) Find the Software Licensing service & stop it (it may say that ReadyBoost needs that service to run; stop it anyway)
4) Restart both services, starting with Software Licensing

Had similar issues which are related to either an Nvidia driver or Nero install overwriting a Vista DLL file.

Sp1 will fix this & or failing that there is an MS hotfix which works.

Look for: Windows6.0-KB929637-v2-x86.msu
