Sometimes my computer doesn't boot up, it just shows the motherboard logo (Gigabyte) and then nothing happens. It never shows the POST screen, pressing TAB, DEL etc doesn't do anything. The CPU fan and the case fans are on. The only thing that can be done is turn it back off. What can cause something like this?

Go into BIOS and select hard drive delay and set it to about 3 seconds.

Sometimes the Bios reports no hard drive because the hd hasn't spun up quick enough.

This would happen to me if headers were connected the wrong way around, although I thought it did'nt happen with modern boards.

My Rig is different to your but it does the same thing.

What i found it to be was my USB hub which had a few things connected to it (Ipod / Phone).

I just removed that and now it boots perfectly everytime. Not sure why it does it but it does :)
