Someway of controlling separate sound sources ?

Is there any way to have more control over sound sources.

Problem I am having is while I am watching a little twitch t.v, I want to listen to some music, but the music is overbearing, I have tried the in built mixer in windows but it seems the music is overriding the twitch no matter what, is there anything I can do?

surely each application has its own volume setting?

what are you using for the music player?

It's the Xbox music app in windows 8 I am struggling with

seems to be a 'feature' of windows 8 - all start bar apps have their volume automatically controlled by windows.
