Sonas Arc

I've got the arc, with surrounds and the sub. It is a really decent system. Never have any issues with it and it's a massive improvement on the playbar.

Will work fine with your TV, however I believe your model doesn't support earc, so you won't be able to get lossless audio. Might not be an issue though if you don't use an external blu ray player. Will still do Dolby Atmos but will be using the Dolby digital + compressed codec.

I've never used it on its own. Had a playbar and rears originally, so swapped playbar out with the arc and recently added the sub.

However, it will still be fine on its own. It does a good job of filling the room with sound and sure a few others can chip in as sure some only have it on its own. Plus you always have the option further down the line of adding the rears / sub if you wanted.

What type of shape is your room and ceiling heights ?

We had the Arc for several weeks by itself before adding the sub - still arguing with my partner that we need the surrounds.

On its own it worked really well I just felt it was lacking that extra cinematic feel. I haven't experienced what real atmos would sound like with dedicated height speakers but I think the bar does a pretty good job of doing that by itself. Also the fake surround sound works surprisingly well. there was a scene in the first season of the Mandalorian that I genuinely could hear sounds coming from behind me that I had to pause the TV to realise it was actually coming from the bar.

My room is a smallish (4.2m x 5m) L shaped room with the TV along the longer wall and the sofa along the shorter wall with I'd say an average height ceiling for a new build house.

I would recommended getting one, no buyers remorse on my end.

Rears definitely help.

I've been playing around with the arc and rears loads lately in different heights etc as we redecorated (reckon I spent a good 10 hours worth of testing, wife assumed I'd gone mad). I've found the sweet spot is to stick the rears exactly 12 inches (1 foot) above your head and to have the arc the reverse 12 inches below your head. If at all possible, have the arc completely in front of the TV, so nothing is obstructing it at all. I did have mine wall mounted, but we've changed furniture up so it's now on a unit. Obviously might be different for different room types and sizes, but was actually very surprised how much of a difference it has made, that it sounds like an entire new set again. Was very much for upfiring rear speakers as a new product, but not sure it's actually needed now as I really do get sound bouncing very nicely from the arc and due to the height of the rears you get that extra sense in overhead sound.

I've been trying to get rears for a few months now as I'd like to complete the set but my partner thinks it would look like a bachelor pad with speakers everywhere. I'm now playing a game of whittle her down by keep bringing it up over and over again and through attrition I'll hopefully wear her down to the point where she just yells "go and get them then" :p

I was thinking of getting the stands with them but that would put them level with the sofa or thereabouts. The ARC is about 1-1.5' under where we sit, at a guess

Add some nice furniture. We've got corner type shelves. Then the speakers are on that. That's how I sold it to mine. She then put photos and plants on the other shelves so was a win for both sides haha.

eek, try to set up the man cave and she adds ornaments and plants haha :D

cheers for the input fellas , its going in a living/kitchen area I'm building so sill haven't finalised the exact position yet , I'm still in two minds as whether to go 3.1 and atmos ceiling as i have a spare 4k amp

I’m considering an Arc myself to go alongside an Audiolab 8000A that has a DAC and port connected etc. So Audiolab for audio and the Arc for TV. I've been trying to source an Arc, but pretty much out of stock everywhere.

Currently got a Beam wired in, but that's destined for another TV and have been impressed with this. Kef LSX in the office atm.

I've been trying to source an Arc, but pretty much out of stock everywhere.

I was fortunate enough to place an order for one yesterday afternoon from a major hight street electrical goods retailer. I had contacted a few specialist hi fi shops, to be told they were on back order and had up to 50 confirmed orders from customers waiting on one. I was surprised to see it in stock, so placed an order straight away. I checked again this morning, and it was showing as sold out again.

Perhaps other larger retailers also received a delivery over the weekend, so it might be worth shopping around.

I know JL had some, but they’d gone by the time I logged on a few hours later.

Will just carry on the wait. Sonos had some list as mid April ETA. The retailer I've been dealing with have struggled to get stock since Brexit
