Got a sonata 2, which comes standard with some piping to go over the cpu fan, in order to allow it to get fresh air from outside the case.

Quick question - does this actually lower temps or not?

Has anyone done a comparison??

If your case/fan setup has low airflow and the duct goes all the way to close to the HSF it should give very good results and won't disrupt airflow like an unducted side vent, but as Yewen said you won't know till you try it.

I couldn't get mine to fit with the Akassa EVO 33 installed. I think it would pay bigger dividends when used with a heatsing like the standard SMD one with the fan on top as these tend to be a little shorter and would draw fresh air direct from the vent onto the CPU. Also worth considering how often you take your PC to bits as it is quite a pain to remove and impossible to work around as I'm always tinkering I've left it in the box.
