just wondered if anyone had customised a antec sonata II case... was wanting to maybe fit some fans in the side panel and keep it looking nice.. some pics would be great...

Hey,

Yeah i added a side fan - what a difference it made to temps! Dropped by atleast 10 degrees!

It is an intake, just sits to the right of where my Big Typhoon sits. Very simple to do if you have a dremel! Just use a 120mm fan as a template then drill a hole and start cutting!!

tbh its no surprise your temps dropped by 10 degrees, i remember when i had this case, i think it spent most of last summer with its side panel off, worst bloody cooling EVER!

I have this case too and my rig is currently sitting at 31c CASE and 36c HDD. Maybe I should cut a hole in the side of mine too.

what program are you using to measure your temps, and that is quite cool, i'd bet your using speedfan?

what temp is your processor/GFX @

yeah lol its such a bad case for an overclocked bit of kit! Nice looking case though!

Not sure thats really fare I have any Opty 146 overclocked to 2.8 and an overclocked x1800xt and I've never had a problem with it overheating. Maybe no icy cool but it was designed to be quiet not the best cooling case

terrible program, it gives temps about 2-3 degrees lower than they actually are, try something like core temp for your CPU

i don't find that, lined up next to my mainboard manuf software (corecenter), speedfan gives exactly the same reading
