Hey guys getting a new system which will mean a new install of iTunes, but will I have to back up the albums I have purchased from iTunes on disc or can I just download them again?

Thanks.

To be fare i would definitely backup your music to another drive that will be going into the
new system you have, I have formatted my system recently and just backed up all my
music collection onto my media drive and just re-added it all to iTunes when i was back up
and running again and even though i had no play lists all the music was still there at least.

Guys

I've just got a new laptop and I want to take a full backup of my iPhone as I don't have another backup any where but I don't want to lose the music I already have on the iPhone, how can I get this copied across safely please?

I've done the sync pruchases but when I select the music I get the "are you sure you want to sync music all existing content on the iphone ............."

What can I do?

iTunes will let you redownload your iTunes purchases if you lose it, but they will do it just 2-3 times, then you can't get it back.

I have moved them already without too much hassle

Have you authorised the new laptop in iTunes?

Yes I have....

It's the music I have copied from my music cd collection I'm worried about as I have lost some already :(

Why didn't you backup the library file as well? As long as all your file path's are the same, it would work straight off.

iMacMart - ITunes will allow you to back up your phone, but it is only the device settings. You'll need a different application to transfer music from the phone, but I haven't used any of them. Google should point you in the right direction though.
