I was in the Lake District recently and heard a sonic boom on two occasions. At least I'm fairly certain that's what it was - possibly explosions at a quarry or some such....maybe.
Anyway, I've been to the Lakes quite often (and the Scottish Highlands) and have seen more military aircraft than you can shake a stick at (my fave being a brief glimpse of a US B1B over Ben Nevis
), but I've never heard a sonic boom - I was under the impression they're not allowed to go supersonic over land?
I was wondering if maybe it was the Eurofighter being put through its paces? Anybody seen one or heard anything about this? Tried Google with no luck.
Thanks
