Has anyone here had experience of the above mentioned underlays? I've had a look at the sonic gold stuff and it seems to compress quite easily.

Are the green fibreboards more rigid?

What qualities are most important to you?

When we refurbished our flat a few years back and we wanted good sound blocking the most quietened bang-for-buck that I could find was CMS SoundLay Plus.

But it's 12mm thick and about 10kgs a sqm,and it wasn't cheap either.

It's to go on a concrete subbase, not too bothered about noise reduction from the perspective of neighbours etc.

The sonic gold is causing movement between the planks I've laid, it's a 12mm thick floor too so I'm looking for something that will limit that movement or eliminate it entirely.

I've had a look around but didn't turn much up about this underlay, is it quite spongy, could you squash it much between your fingers?

It's not like a cheap underlay that if you kneel or walk on it leaves an impression. There is a tiny bit of give (keep in mind it's 3mm thick) but in practice it feels solid underfoot.

Ive used howdens 3mm underlay on many floors. Perfect for the job, can't imagine why you want really thick underlay for wooden floors as it serves no purpose.

Thanks for the replies, I'll investigate further.
