Announced over night.

It's the ultimate Sonic celebration! Sonic returns in a new 2D platforming high speed adventure, and he's not alone!

Developed in collaboration between SEGA, Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games, experience new zones and remixed classic levels with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles!

Looks brilliant. A classic 2D adventure, just what I wanted. Will buy day one.

Judgement reserved, we have been screwed over with new 2D Sonic games before. I do like how it's 16-bit era graphics with a few modern tricks though.

It looks like character controls like the original Megadrive game, which is definitely the way forward.
Did not like how it controlled in some of the more recent excuses of games.

As long as it's priced well, I'll definitely be buying. Sonic, 2, 3 & Knuckles are still my favourite childhood games.

Could they finally be giving fans what they want/need from this series? I havent enjoyed one since adventure 2, and looking back, they werent great but i was young at the time and just loved sonic.

Sonce then they have smashed his face into the ground too many times, but this could save them

Christian whitehead made the remakes of sonic 1 and 2 for iOS (pssibly android too?)

They play and feel like the original. He even added a secret zone that was meant to be in sonic 2 originally.

There was a petition to get sega to hire him again to remake sonic 3. Looks like sega have gone and done more than that!

I personally cannot wait. the 8/16bit sonics are my favorite games of all time. I have all of them in my retro collection and still play them at least once a week.

Those races on Sonic 2 as well, good times on Christmas Day playing my cousin mystic cave and pulling the vines to close the bridges, lol.

Sonic 3 and Knuckles! Felt like a huge game when the carts were plugged together! I remember having all the characters completed in hyper form was amazing! Great music too

Rumour has it Michael jackson was involved and it does sound like it, a certain track sounds like a rip of one of his songs Jam

Hes was but he didn't like the way the Megadrive sound chip did the drums so he asked for his name to be removed from the credits.
