IGn have reviewed the wii version of sonic and given it a 6.9 which is a bit dissapointing as i was really looking forward to this here is a few quotes

Sonic and the Secret Rings is my favorite entry into the franchise since its 2D roots. That's high praise for some, I'm quite certain. Bearing that in mind, if you really liked the Sonic Adventure titles for Dreamcast or GameCube, I think you will find much more to be excited about in this Wii-exclusive undertaking.

Sonic Team has taken a giant step in the right direction here, and of that there is little doubt, which is why I hope that more time and attention goes into the camera system and level designs for the inevitable sequel.

I want to take moment to specifically explain the score. For me, Sonic and the Secret Rings offers moments of greatness where I find myself caught up in the intensity of the experience and, oppositely, moments where I want to pull my hair out or throw the Wii remote down because of imprecise control or insulting design choices. I think that some gamers, particularly diehard Sonic fans, will be able to get past these drawbacks and enjoy the great times, which are also in supply. However, for me it's really pretty simple. Call me harsh, but I don't believe you should be forced to deal with the bad to enjoy the good and hence, I've scored the game with that in mind.

still gonna pick it up i think, i need a hit of fast paced sonic action
 
Not a surprise for me, all Sonic games after Sonic Adventure on the DC have been pap (and that was flawed).
 
picked this up today and so far im impressed, only played the mini-games so far but they keep me and a few mates entertained for a good few hours this afternoon

ill give the single player a whirl later tonight
 
When I watched the 1up show review of this a couple of weeks ago they seemed to have a similar opinion as IGN

Some of the bits were really hard and they got in the way of the good bits.

They thought it was the best 3D Sonic title there's been (not exactly a stunning accolade but still!).

I think i'll pick it up when it's going cheap.
 
its fast, some bits are quite hard, its quite tricky to get used to but it is damn fun

Sonic, S2 and S3 & Knuckles are the Sonic games.

Of those, S1 is the most challenging; S2 the most polished; S3&K the most epic.

It's really hard to pick a favourite. S2 is just a tad too short and a touch too easy. S3&K was much more inventive, and probably deserves the title of "Best Sonic game."

I'm not a huge fan of Sonic CD, but fans of Sonic need to play it at least once :) As for the 3D Sonic games... :o

There must be a mistake in IGN review...I looked at the score on the right column which is 6.9 but it is actually 7.9 on rating box below, I think it is definitely 7.9 because its gameplay, presentation & graphic got 8.

Not a fan of Sonic but it's pretty good after poor showing in other platforms.
 
just played the first dinsaur level and wow the graphics are great !

real good fun as well this is easily the best 3D sonic yet and definatly worth trying out

Sonic CD's the best Sonic game IMO. Fantastic soundtrack.

Plugging Sonic the Hedgehog 3 into Sonic and Knuckles was huuuuge.
 
Think I know why there is some confusion.

The US IGN review gives it 6.9 (passable)
The UK IGN review gives it 7.9 (good)

definatly worth playing not sure it will be to everyones tastes tho as it can be quite hard and frustrating
