OK I have a Be* Unlimited connection coming into our property, at the moment its just going straight into a Netgear DG834GT router (with DGTeam firmware).

I have managed to get hold of a SonicWall TZ170 and want to have ago at this get this working as a firewall between the LAN and the WAN.

I was thinking of having the following set-up:

INTERNET>DG834GT(Modem Only Mode)> WAN Port on SonicWall, the sonicwall then has built in dhcp, i would enable this then to distribute any IP's to connecting devices.

The only thing i wasnt sure about was that actual WAN connection, i dont have a username/password for my account it goes by the WAN IP, i had a quick try but couldnt seem to get any devices to talk to the outside world after initial set-up.

If the Netgear is providing the be connection, what details would I need to put into the sonicwall?

you dont. bethere. dont have username or passwords.

you need to put the modem into bridge mode. and dhcp the firewall/router to pickup the wan ip.

Will give this ago, :) any other tips greatly appriciated with regards to these sonicwall boxes, at the moment its running the SonicWall standard OS, but as soon as i can get WAN connectivity throught the device ill update it to the enhanced OS.
