This deserves a thread all of it's own. Super sexy - not sure what i'd prefer now between this and LG's wallpaper OLED.

Here's a vid with Linus going through a few details - the interesting part is the sound comparison with what has to be LG's G6 (his current panel) and how the Sony does. Still not sure on the weird angle - hopefully there's a way of having it upright and not wall mounted.

65" is sooooooo last year :)

Really glad though that they are doing a 77" as well (even if it costs a small fortune) even AVForums couldn't confirm the 2nd size

Really interested to hear more about the speaker in the screen tech, hats off to Sony

Pity they aren't released for several months so patient wait for reviews is going to be agonizing (all the interesting TV's seem to be released mid-way through the year this time)

Oh boy. This is most definitely my next TV purchase. Regardless of price.

Love Sony TV's. Bought our last one in May 2009, a KDL 46X4500, and it's still going strong. RGB LED was about as good as it got back then.

At the time we demo'd against a Kuro and much preferred the picture, and of course, the sound, of the Sony.

Can't wait for the A1 to arrive.

seeing as its "worlds first" im not sure you are right but hey ho

Sony are certainly the first to release it commercially at this kind of level

LG invented and manufacture it. They also decided not to implement it because it is a pointless gimmick.

And I am right but hey ho.

I'm assuming this A1 OLED will be between £4,500 and £6,000...

There are rumours all over the place with regards to how Sony will be pricing these.

I'm sort of hoping that they'll go for the mass market and price them accordingly and I should imagine there'll be more than a few disgruntled LG owners throwing their toys out of their prams if Sony do undercut them.

Considering the flagship 55 inch version of the KDL 46X4500 had a list price of £3500 back in 2009 I'm hoping the A1 65 will be in or around that region.

Bargain!

Can't wait.

Does it work though? The video review seems to claim it's great. If it gives a smaller profile, and it's a unique selling point, it may be a gimmick, but it may not be pointless.

I understood that they developed it independently with LG Display only providing the bare panels to Sony for them to fit the sound bits.

LG are only at prototype stage with their Crystal Sound displays and are raving about how they are more immersive.
