When you say overheating what do you mean? Does it just get warm? Or does it shut down, shows an error message?
My a57 gets warm after extended use its normal.
I dont have camera yet, I was looking at a few reviews and came noticed this
"However the sensor-based image stabilisation system limits recording to nine minutes to avoid overheating, and even then that doesn’t always work. We’ve hit some heat problems, usually in enclosed rooms where the ambient temperature continues to rise. Our advice: when inside, switch the SteadyShot off, unless you’re only grabbing short clips from time to time"

currently have a canon 350d which has been great, I did look at the canon 1100d but the Sony seems better at everything

AFAIK, since the A33/A55, Sony now use electronic stabilisation instead of sensor shift to prevent the overheating (The A65/A57/A77 most certainly do), and overheating is not a problem anymore..
I think PC Lint are just rehashing old review comments..

Recordable time
Approx 29 minutes (around 13 min when temperature exceeds 40 degrees C)
they all have sensor shift from what I can see
