Looking for something to replace my old Fuji S4700,
Ideally I want something fairly compact for decent holiday snaps and a bit of landscape/nature stuff at home,
I am not that knowledgeable when it come to photography but its something I would like to get into more!

A friend of mine pointed me towards the Sony A5000/6000 series cameras,
I really struggle to get decent composition without a viewfinder so I have kind of ruled out the A5000,
Currently I am looking at the A6000, just curious if anyone had any thoughts/opinions on it?

Also I have never owned a camera with interchangeable lenses before, I understand it comes with a 16-50mm lens, are there any others that might be considered essential?

Hi Svack,

The A6000 is a good camera but their APS-C lens line up is pretty poor and Sony's Full Frame lenses that also work with the A6000 are very big, bulky and expensive!

Have a look at getting a used Fuji X-T10 and their 'kit' lens 18-55 f2.8-4, which is a very highly regarded lens. All Fuji lenses are specifically designed for the APS-C sensor format, keeping them light, compact and ideal for travel photography etc

I replaced a couple of cameras with a A6000, kit lens, 55-210 lens, 50mm 1.8 OSS lens and sigma 19 and 30mm 2.8 lenses (but was very tempted by the 30mm 1.4)
Works for me. The biggest problem with the Sony cameras are the lens prices, but some of them are pretty reasonable and the Sigmas are downright affordable.

I replaced a DSLR with a A6000,got 4 lens, the 2 kit lens, sigma 19mm 2.8 and a old lens 50mm which does amazing depth of field,I'm very happy with what I got and can see me keeping the kit for many years.
