I upgraded my nex6 last week as it was on offer and bought it with the kit lens plus the 55 210 with the intentions of buying a prime lens and possibly the 18 105 before flogging the kit lenses.

Is the 18 105 worth the money over the 55 210 considering what I'll lose on it? What about prime lenses? I looked at the 35mm and 50mm sony versions but the sigma 30mm f2.8 seems very cheap with some good comments?

I bought the camera as I stopped using my 5D due to lugging around a backpack which made me stop using it. I don't mind spending on decent glass if its worth it as I don't fancy going back down the dslr route.

I use the sigma for general outdoor use/street/landscapes then the sony for product/people/indoor shooting (low light). I personally prefer this to having something like a 24mm which isn't ideal for either. My ideal would be to have equal image quality to both in something like a 16-35mm with low fstop, but that's not happening. The image quality is good with both for the price, more so the sigma. The build quality of the sony is however better. I wouldn't personally bother with the 50mm on crop body as for indoor portrait type shooting you might be limited for space sometimes. Some people prefer them of course, although more for face/head shots. If 35mm isn't quite enough, I'm happy to crop into a little.

Before moving on to FF, my 2 favourite lenses on the E mount system were the 24mm f1.8 Zeiss, a stunning lens which is very flexible if you can afford one, and the Sigma 60mm f2.8, amazing IQ in a compact, affordable package with my favourite focal length (~90mm).

The Sigma 19mm and 30mm didn't impress as much so they were returned, but for the price now why not?
