Hello everyone, I have just bought a Sony A6500 body only, I am looking for recommendations for lenses, I will primarily be taking pictures of my cocker spaniel dog and landscapes, is there anything I can use for both? I am very new to photography, plenty to learn. Any help is appreciated.

First up congrats on the new camera! I have the same camera and love it... I mostly use a single lens all of the time, the Sony 28mm FE f/2. It's relatively inexpensive, fast and focuses quickly. It's wide enough for doing some moderate landscape but also great for taking pictures of animals/people.
If you want a wider lens dedicated for landscape, the Samyang 12mm f/2 is amazing, light and cheap - only thing is you have to focus manually, but with the zoom assist and focus peaking that is really easy on most mirrorless cameras these days.
Both lenses are really sharp as well, which is really nice.

And one of the Samyang 12mm:

Hi Matt, I see on your Flickr account you use a 55mm quite a bit? Do you not recommend that? I have bought a cheap sigma 30mm 1.4 to see how I get on with that first.

I totally recommend that lens... its quite a bit more pricey than the other 2 I listed. Great for portraits.

The sigma is amazing too! Definitely forgot that in my post .... used my brother's copy a fair bit and really sharp, plus the out of focus is really nice!
