First off sorry for another one of these threads but I don't know enough about cameras anymore.

looking at getting a camera for sub 200 the cheaper the better for now!

noticed this "Sony Alpha A100 + 18-70mm" for sale at £80 would it be a waste of money or would I still be able to get some decent shots from it.

Or would I be better paying more and going for a 450d or something in that region?

thanks in advance

Whatever you buy you'll be able to sell it for a similar price, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Just buy whatever you can afford and use it to learn the basics on, then sell it and buy something a bit better. System doesn't matter, whether it's nikon, canon, sony, pentax, as you're just learning it's not like you'll have a load of lenses you need to replace.

I started with a Nikon D50 and the 18-55mm kit lens. It's only 6mp but taught me how to use aperture, shutter speed, iso etc.. I recently sold it for around £90.

It will be fine to get started and once you're used to a dSLR you will be better placed to make future purchasing decisions.

Also bare in mind that it will be able to use a lot of old Minolta lenses.

I started with a sony A100,then moved to a A200 then a a33 which i still have,i have 6 lens as well as a flash unit,tripod,monopod ect.

This is fine for what i want from a camera,im not into photography like most people on here but find the sony camera's nice and sturdy with plenty of cheap (but good) lens around.

I wont be upgrading for many years (or the camera conks out) as i dont see the point for what i mainly use it for.
