Sony announces Cyber-shot RX100 Mark V with 315 phase-detection AF points

A6500 looks impressive though! Might tempt me away from m43 now Sony have got IBIS, huge buffer and touchscreen.

I looked but even with the bigger sensor its not enough. There are still issues not addressed with the SOny plus I would have to start rebuilding my lens collection and also the equivalent lens are bigger and heavier and more expensive.

And the body is going to be £1500 alone which isnt cheap.

The EM1 mk2 is going to be in the same ballpark though.

I don't know the Sony lenses well, I guess the benefit is if you buy FE glass you can move to full frame easily - but then there's the weight/cost aspect.

This really. If m43 isn't working for you you probably want to upgrade to a FF camera, Sony A7 would work if AF is not a priority otherwise just get something like a Nikon D750.

Better think about selling my MK IV before this comes out then. I'm not as impressed with it as I thought I would be. Nothing wrong with it per se, but much rather use my A7 even if it's not pocketable.

The RX100 V doesn't seem like a big step up really. If they ditched the viewfinder or flash to add a hotshoe, and 3.5mm mic then I'd think about it.

Would love to have seen the Nikon DL 24-84 but I don't think that will ever see the light of day now.

There isn't going to be a Nikon DL24-85 in my opinion, it's been delayed twice (once due to the earthquake). By the time it's ready for production it will already be obsolete.

Why would be obsolete?? Its pricing at £500 to £600ish is more like the RX100 III and it still looks a better bet. Sony has screwed itself over by making the RX100 more and more stupidly priced. Sony is entirely loosing the plot with the pricing of its newer 1" sensor based compacts.

TBH,I think over £400 to £500 for any of these 1" sensor compacts is getting mad - at least the DL18-50 is something unique in the market.

You might as well get a small Panasonic mirrorless camera IMHO.

No wonder these companies are loosing sales - if they priced these compacts closer to £300 to £400 ,they could at least entice more people to buy them.
