Sony ban hammer - paypal

Anyone else been affected ? Im banned.

Got an email from paypal advising of a failed transaction with sony - logged into my ps4 to find i was banned !!

Auto-banning (even just temporary suspension) accounts in the first instance is an utterly retarded policy - I think even steam has taken a step back from that now though not 100%.

Thank God I never use PayPal anymore. But that's absolutely crazy so many people have been banned.

I presume as long as you clear the balanceyour account will be reactivated again

I've been banned too, got the email last night and tried logging in on both PS4 and the site, but due to being banned I can't. Guess I have to contact support...

Strangely, the PayPal transaction says it was a refund. So at first I thought they was giving me money back

i don't seem to have been banned but it is a slight worry as i always use paypal for psn purchases. Is the general consensus that buying the psn vouchers is the best approach?

Because Sony are a bunch of overbearing bullies when it comes to PSN and payment/sales.

i dont know about vouchers however if they work out cheaper then yes.

i dont even use my card anymore as paypoint sells psn and xbox vouchers exactly the same way you would buy a mobile phone top up

yes and when its the other way round and you cant access your own account they are in no hurry whatsoever to help

Did Sony lift the ban even though the accounts were then in the red?

If so, will this be a permanent change of policy moving forward by them?

Probably a one off due to the amount of people affected. To those who got refunded for a game and got unbanned. Did they remove your rights to the game or have you got a freebie?

speaking to my friend im not sure entirely if he either remade the payments or paypal remade the payments

Noticed I was unbanned on Friday morning but due to work couldn't check my PayPal until today. The pending payment has gone through, and the payment that was refunded stayed refunded. I still have the game in the library and can still play so... did I just get a free game

?

Added my Monzo card as my primary payment now, but I'll keep the PayPal account as a back up just in case.

I'd expect Paypal/Sony to reconcile everything and for your funds to disappear. Personally, if this had happened to me I'd leave the funds in Paypal for a couple of weeks and then withdraw them.
If I get the game for free, tops. If my account is suddenly banned again then I know I need to cough up.
