I am about to purchase a sony blu ray player,BDPs370 to be precise
To connect to the internet it says i have to get a sony usb dongle
These are probably going to be expensive, will it not work with a cheap dongle on sale here for about £10?

No.

You'll need the Sony one, we've tried others but cant find a compatible one :(

Maybe look to see if the BDPS570 works out cheaper with wireless built in (and 3d)

and you can always buy a cheap access point with infrastructure mode to plug it into the ethernet port and make it wireless, like what I did with my BDP-S380.

You can only use the Sony one as it only has the correct drivers/software for the sony dongle.

I tried using homeplugs but they are too slow for streaming HD and unreliable on my wiring.

i was gonna move my router down stairs and connect it with ethenet cable will this work?i have a phone line by my tv

I went down the home plug route and it fine like that, I also have an LG bd570 and find the wireless shocking even with it being close to the router.

On the subject of the 370, its a far superior player to the 380 due to being dlna compliant so streaming from your pc is available... The 380 is an upgrade but a step back for streaming support.

I prefer my sony over the LG
