I'd like to get a nice cheaper smaller point-and-shoot because I never seem to take my bigger black "pro-sumer" S5500 out with me any more.

However I'm stumped between the two above as I simply can't see the difference between them.

The W55 looks nicer (brushed alu), but the W35 seems to have a standard USB-mini jack instead of a proprietary Sony wotsit.

Is that the only difference? Anyone got one?

Looking at that i'd say you're simply paying for a 2.5" screen over a 2" one!

The big screens are nice but are they worth the increase in cost and possible reduction in battery time!

The increase in cost is only about a tenner.

It's baffling as to why they'd bother releasing two so similar, to be honest.

The only other difference I can fathom is that the W55 comes in different colours (woop-de-doo)!

and the W55 is a whopping 2 grams lighter ... something you'll really appreciate after walking all day with it in yer pocket :p

:D

Going to try and get into a shop and have a good fondle of these two cameras on the way home this evening :)

I get the feeling I may be going for the less stylish and lesser-screened but ultimately exactly as good spec-wise one. I hate having tons of proprietary cables when I can just have one USB-mini sellotaped to my desk into which tons of different things plug.

If only power supplies were equally standardised (well yes I know kettle leads are, I mean little ones for whizzy gadgets, two sockets in my room with 3 power-strips coming from them, not good!)...
