Sony DSC-R1 has anyone got one of these ?

I have been thinking about getting this camera for a while now, I have read all the reviews on various websites so I know most of the pros/cons to this camera but was just wondering if anyone had one and if so what they thought of it first hand?

i dont own one but ive used one. i dont like it, i dont like the handling and the screen and EVF are very laggy. it has plenty of features but imo it doesn't justify the price, you could get a dslr and a wider range of focal length lenses for the same money.

However, the lens itself is by all reports absolutely first class for the cost. IMO, you should find a local stockist, take a memory card along, take some pictures, see what you think.

Having already owned a Fuji S2pro and a canon 300D I didn't want to go back to DSLR, In fact I have been waiting for sometime for compact camera with a large (APS size) sensor. There are to main reasons for this. firstly I don't want to be messing around cleaning my sensor like I used to have to do..and let me tell you it used to drive me nuts cleaning that thing, and secondly I don't want a choice of lenses to that I will end up spending more money than sense on.

I want to buy a camera that once purchased I have nothing else to buy and I can concentrate on taking pictures, and the money I save on Lenses I can use to travel around and hopefully get some really nice images.

The other thing is I don't want to cart all that equipment round..nothing worse IMO going out for the day and being so restricted with all that camera equipment.
