i came across a a sony k800i for £130 .. ive ownwed it before and loved it .. damn thing got stollen tho 2 years ago ... at teh time was teh best phone that took pictures imo .. and the cybershot flash was awesome

i do have a sony vivaz on contract atm .. but for some reason its bugging the hell out of me ...tempted to get teh k800i again ... but is there a modern version i can pic up that has the same great flash as the old master ? my vivaz only has a light ... which even tho it takes 8 mp ( compared to k800 3.2 ) just feels od to me still .. after nearly a year of owning it :(

any opinions ?

Its only iffy when compared with the likes of the iPhone and Android phones, all in all it does nearly everything you would want it to do, and a bit more.

The phone overall is well designed and the camera is just amazing, its by far and away the best at the moment and the N8 can be had fairly cheaply compared to the likes of the iPhone (which is £500-600).

Or, you could get an N8 on a contract, there are some VERY cheap contract deals for it, £20 per month etc. Maybe less if you factor in cashback deals etc.

Have a look here - http://www.mobiles.co.uk/nokia-n8.html

and here - http://www.nokiadirect.co.uk/Pay-Monthly/sc521/n447/p95793.htm#tabsAnchor (T-Mobile deal there for £20 per month, 24 months, if 300 texts is enough)

i'm on t-mobile atm .. stuck with contract till may 2012 ... teh mp count isnt always king .. its the flash that comes with it from my experience .. sony dropped the ball as far as i can see after the k800i .. cybershot was still present , but the flash went awol :(

I'm well aware that Megapixels aren't everything, but the N8 has an excellent flash too.

wasn't ment as an insult :( just pointing out ...tbh its probably going to be a prezzie for mum :0 and i owe her a lot .. she doesnt do touchscreen .. and i cant see anythign beyond the k800 thats as good .. and its a good phone to use to to hol pics :)

the c905 has a xenon flash and takes great snaps like the k800i did

nokia made a few candybar phones with xenons too

And the K850... :p

If I were to go back to any of the SE candybars I would go k850, it built upon the successes of the k800 but got rid of some of the main issues (like adding an LED to the Xenon flash), much like the k800 built upon the K750.

Unfortunatly very few phones that feature wise compare to the old k750i/k800i for that all around solid package - you'll find phones with great camera, but naff battery life, or decent music playback but terrible UI/OS, etc.

I kept my w995 for photos while out and about. Still cant beat the c905 but the phone had endless problems with me.

Indeed, utterly hilarious. If people are actually silly enough to buy them for anything near that price, I'm getting my old one back from my mum.

Now that you mention it I think I've got 3 or 4 of them in a draw somewhere!

A snip at a mere £110.

Yeah I've got one in my drawer too! Use it as a backup phone or for when i'll be without a charging point for a while.

It's flashed to a K810i and I put new housing on it, so it looks quite new now. Maybe I should sell it!
