Can't wait for these beauties to become available, seriously thinking of buying the P990i but for looks and size the M600 looks fantastic and is only 15mm thick where as the P990i well chunky springs to mind but an excellent piece of kit.

Any thought's wheather SE will update the M600 with WLAN like the P990i, if so i may hold out and wait for that.

Never seen that M600 before, looks quite nice. I'm still using a P900 at the moment and keep convincing myself to hold off for the P990 to come out before upgrading but there seems to be a lot of nice phones in the pipeline now !! :(

No but if you can manage without a camera, it's fine. A camera isn't really the be all, end all though. Other than that, you've got to admit it's looker isn't it?

It's meant as a mid-range business phone. I'm sure most businesses will appreciate the lack of a camera.

15mm is very thin too. I've heard that it's actually the thinnest UMTS phone in the world!

But I'd still rather have the P990 though - mainly for the decent 2MP camera and WiFi.

anyone have any idea on when the p990i is likely to turn up?, as my p910i is really looking a bit battered now, and the battery is on the way out, and i can't see anything else worth upgrading to, unless anyone can recommend anything

Been delayed. Was due sometime Q1 this year (originally around March) but it has now been delayed until Q2. So don't expect to see it until around May.

And that's what i'm waiting for with the 990i, though saying on the above post that it's been delayed doesn't help. You'd have thought they would make a change and get a 3mp camera in it, while the release is delayed because so many companies are now releasing phones with the 3mp camera.

A 3mp camera on the p990i is next to imposible. Not with the current release schdule. It would take months to incoperate the module and would probably not be released till december. The m600 does have wifi iirc. I'ts a competitor to nokia's upcoming business "E" series phones (which incedentally don't have camera's either).

3MP camera on P990i is not only difficult at this point (specs released all over and production presumably about to start / well under way by now), but also quite pointless given that its primary focus is being a PDA phone, not a camera phone. Yes, it's good that SE upgraded the camera of this P-series model but I wouldn't expect them to go all the way with the camera features, because that's not the point of the phone ("nice-to-haves" vs. esential features of that particular market). It will only drive up the cost even further upon what is no doubt going to be very expensive as it is.

As for the M600 vs. P990, isn't it a bit... pointless to compare two phones that no-one (except SE employees or a few lucky reviewers) has even held in their hands?

I mean, sure - you can compare the design and feature list, but ultimately you need to really compare the phones in person to make a proper comparison. Non-headline features/touches, tactile aspects and software bugs won't become apparent until people start using it fully either.

Yeah sure this is true, and to be honest even those dummy mobiles won't give the true perspective in terms of weight and sturdyness. I'd love to able to go to a shop and have a mess about with them before buying, bit like a test drive in a car kind of way, would be cool. :D

Well, if you're desperate to try them out, I'm sure that they'll be at the 3GSM conference in Barcelona next week. :)

Oh you're joking, i'm in Goa India for a week next week so i'll miss it Dam! :D

I have a p990 here... it does next to nothing but it looks very nice lol. Feels much better put together than the p910.

It crashes as soon as you look at it, not exactly for demo, barely any apps installed either.

The m600 even caught me out, I haven't even seen one of them let alone used one and thats weird, the w900 was knocking around our office for months before release (like roughly the same time I got a w800!).

Never going to be a 3mp on the p990 by the way, not a cat in hells chance, hardware was fixed long ago.
