already a thread on that phone , rubbish headline by engadget too since its been official for ages if you believe all their previous guesses disguised as fact

thats not the launch date , think the or 'a' thread is called playstation phone , definetly seems like this thing has been mentioned a lot before

The 205 is a good gpu but for all games the 540 is still significantly better... (Unreal 3, Quake 3 etc)

Edit: Here's a more upto date test.

Very disappointing for gaming phone tbh. All the new tile render gpus have over double the performance (Adreno 220, SGX543mp) and Tegra 2s ULP Geforce will get good game/driver support.

Hopefully it'll be priced between £250-£350, otherwise wait for NGP for your mobile playstation fix (it can play Android games :p)

I'm more interested to know pricing details of the games. As long as they don't charge too much on the PS Suite this could be a big hit!

At least its 2.3 now, first specs had it at 2.2 that would been a bit daft as I'm sure the PSS requires 2.3+. Also wonder how much 2.3 may affect the GPU performance for the better?

^OS revisions seem to have little impact on gpu performance (see Nexus S/2.3 vs Fascinate/2.1 on the chart above)

PSS should be available on most top end phones soon enough (well anything with Adreno 205+/540+/Tegra 2 and running 2.3)

it will surely be circa £400 the same price as any other new higher level android phone ?

its the games that will decide its success , iphone/ds/psp etc have proven you dont need power for some great games and hopefully this will follow and make game devs actually think about android because at the moment its pretty grim gameswise

But it's a Sony Erricson, therefore will break within a fortnight if any of their recent effots are anything to go by.

recent ? that comment is so 2008 that it hurts

they where a companying nearly going bust and the last wave of phones not only saved them but also allows them to risk doing things like trying to bring games developers to android (that it needs massively)

It's not really Sony Ericsson bringing games development to android, it's Sony.

Hell you can not even use the Sony games on the current Sony Ericsson devices, and never will be able to.

Joint ventures like SE are usually a bad idea in fast paced consumer markets, all that join ownership/bureaucracy/funding slow things down too much.

Edit: Although everything seems to be improving and hopefully SE will get first dibs on ST-Ericsson's SoC (looks like Qualcomm have prioritised HTC for the latest snapdragons)

Havok physics engine comes to Android 2.3 (optimised for the play/Adreno 205)

Looks great! Still gutted they didn't go to town on the GPU but hopefully developers will get the best from it.

(edit: wonder if NGP had anything to do with Havok porting to Android :))
