I just got a Sony Ericsson w900i two days ago and now when I turn it on all I get is a blank white screen, I have tried taking the SIM and battery out. Is the phone likely to have died?

Sounds like what is known as the "White Screen Of Death". Had you been copying files from your PC at all?
Only known cure is a full reflash of the firmware, although if yours is a Vodafone one (I assume it probably is) then it should probably go back to Voda to be replaced.

Hi my W900i did that last week after copying some files from the computer.
I just left the white screen on for about 20min and it came back on.

yep, leave the phone on in the white screen state for anything up to half an hour and see if it revives. Sometimes this can be caused after transferring files and pulling the cable out whilst something was transferring or leaving windows open. Other times if u start pressing buttons whilst the restart process is taking place (when the phone switches from file transfer to phone mode) it may delay the next start up.

Once the phone gets out of the white screen mode it should be ok the next time around unless something is done to cause the white screen to appear for a prolonged time again. If the phone doesnt leave white screen mode after around 30 mins tops, get it seen to :)

Yea it was file transfer that caused it, trying to transfer 200mb movie files to the internal memory :o

Oh well, went to vodaphone and they gave me a new one, I'm guessing this affects the internal memory only? I should have a 2GB memory stick arriving today which will hopefully alleviate this problem in future.
