Ordered this, it's on wait though. Only just noticed though, it was first released in 2016
Has nothing else come out to match it or better it for know more than its price of £699?

Thanks

Not familiar with camcorders but just checking the SOny website there appears to be other models above this camcorder.

It might be best to check the Sony site out yourself or check with the supplier where you purchased the Sony FDR-AX53.

Checking your other posts you appear to be interested in cameras, are you a videographer or photographger?

I was gonna get that one as it's a nice bit of kit. But i think that due to camcorders taking a back seat to phones the offering isn't as good as it could be.

Sensors are kinda small, stablisation still not as good as action cams, missing features, maybe other things.

The programmable ring is great. View finder great. Lack of 100% stabilisation at 4k not ideal. No 50p at 4k also.

I just bought a gopro 8 instead for £280 new. But that suits my needs enough.

The Panasonic offering is nice, but lack the programmable ring IIRC.

The newer AX43 isn't any better, and features have been cut also.

For the money, i'd want a perfect camera really. That's where a vastly cheaper gopro suited me.

Thanks all

Is s gopro for just doing sports etc and filming on bikes?

I want to record my family, mainly my daughter.

Is there another option apart from phone or camcorder? Maybe a gopro?

There's plenty of options, depends exactly what you want, and budget. There's also bridge cameras, compact cameras, and DSLRs. Before i bought my gopro i looked into all options, cost, footage quality, and size led me to gopro. But it has huge disadvantages to go with it which probably won't suit you, such as zoom, battery life, screen size.

For this you are probably better off just making sure you have the best phone you can get. 90% of what you record will never be watched more than once and your phone will always be with you same goes for still photography of kids you’ll take 1000’s of photos most of which will never be looked at again.
