Hi guys.

Bit of camera/photo n00b here.

I have a good Fujifilm digital camera with around 5MP's (AFAIR as its a few years old and I hardly use it)

How do you take a photo of a CRT, it looks crap and ends up looking as if it has a curved screen and bezel.

All I can say is coming from a minted 22" (20" Viewable) 4:3 Mitsubishi (which I love) is this is a very nice screen esp as now I see far more than a square box can show me.

I am messing about still, not done any hardcore adjustments but its great as it is, 2003 week 18 model, Mint Case/Mint Screen/Scuffs on Front Bezel (I'm getting brand new bezel to replace it).

With my Desktop at 1280x960 or above on the Mitsubishi I could not read text on and got a sore head so I ran Desktop at 1152x864.

I can read text at 1920x1200 with no strain on this Sony, but have set desktop to 1600x1000@100hz.

:D

To photograph a CRT properly you'll need a long exposure so that you don't catch it during a redraw or as the phosphors are fading - I doubt a point and click camera will be able to do it any justice.

Nice, how much did that set you back? Good ones are very rare these days, I've always wanted one but I don't have the space unfortunately.

The camera has all the settings and the screen is at 100hz so it wont see lines.

Simply seen peeps all take LCD photos straight on and CRT from a angle side on.

I cant get a good photo of it.

Quality comes 1st with me m8, used of a 19" then a 22" CRT so no big deal.

Downside is (and I knew for reading before I bought it) is the heat up time on Trinitrons, I know all CRT ain't 100% till 30mins or so but this is horrid at cold so not sure what to do about my 20mins Windows sleep mode for monitor.

I may simply use blank (black) screen saver instead.

I'm typing this after being way for 1 hour and just woke up monitor and its washed out looking LOL.

Once it heat up you ain't seen quality like it esp after running the built in Restoration Tool. :)

Just watched QT Madagascar 2 1080p Trailer on it @ 100HZ.

I wont say how much I paid as you know what this forum can be like (bla bla could have bought a 24" LCD for that etc).

Just look on E Gay UK and see for yourself. ;)

P.S, no matter how many pictures you look at on the Web of this monitor, it does not look same in the flesh.

It is really wide and has a very flat rectangular screen/bezel, the photos make it look like it has a curved squarish screen/bezel.

LCD's photograph wonderfully, CRT's are not so photogenic. Even so, every time I see one of these monitors I can't resist thinking 'one day you will be mine'. A thing of great beauty, probably the best 24" (or 22") wide screen monitor ever made :)

What's amazing is that whilst many people get models with long usage times (9000 hours and up), some people are managing to bag samples with as little as 50 hours on the clock

Possibly the best monitor ever made. :D
Love them.

Even got one for work recently. Sadly the PoS machines we have can't power them properly. :(

They're not cheap sadly, if you can find a reasonable one for £100 it's a serious bargain. Seriously good nick ones still go for in excess of £300 - but they're worth it.

Hi, sorry i can't help with how to photograph them as i have tried myself and failed terribly!

I've had one of these about 4 months now and they're absolutely fantastic.

Reason i posted was to suggest instead of 1600x1000, that you try 1440x900@120hz which i seem to have settled on as this feels extremely smooth in 60fps (ie half of 120hz) games and generally feels really nice. Also, even if its not 16:10, they do the 16:9 res of 1360x768@144hz which feels ultra smooth also and only needs minor adjustments to the screensize to make it fit.

If it broke i'd be mortified! I've had dell 2407wfp's etc and this thing is just so much smoother but i would agree about the warmup time, mine looks really bright while warming up which can be a pain. Picked mine up off a well known auction site with a little scratch on the sony emblem but in overall VGC for £105.

1440x900@120hz with lots of aa is the absolutely dogs ********. Fantastic trade off of crazy smoothness and great detail.

Wow love that monitor...always wanted one. Have just scored a brand new sony trintron 21" brand new and boxed sealed for £40 though :D

TY m8, but 1600x1000 is my Desktop RES lol.

I game at 1600's and 1900's only (on my 22" now on this 24", there will actually be less lines on screen now Its 16:10 over 4:3.

Example : 1600x1200 becomes 1600x1000 (desktop) or 1680x1050 and 1920x1440 becomes 1920x1200. :)

And I don't use V-Sync ever and have never witnessed tearing on any of my CRT's (Mitsubishi's).

I wont see 120FPS in any new games as of the high RES+MAX settings I use, see no point in 120FPS if you can get 60FPS raising settings to look nicer.

170w according to the service manual. If this is for a full white screen then normal operation could be around the 150w mark but this is speculation on my part.
